Style Crush- Ashley Olsen

I remember watching MK & Ashley in those teen flicks like Passport to Paris, Our Lips are Sealed and It Takes Two, all those years ago. I say that like I’m ancient but it really does seem like such a long time ago. Look at them now, fully fledged fashion icons, something I don’t think anyone thought plausible!

When looking at each of the Olsen twins style I am more drawn to Ashley’s style than Mary Kate, I do love a  bit of boho but I do feel Mary Kate is sometimes swamped by her clothes.

I really love how she mixes up very tailored looks and with more casual pieces such as jumpers and jeans. Her ‘off the red carpet’ outfits are very everyday styles, jeans, slouchy tops and checkered shirts. Something that I think we all love to chuck on when we aren’t really in a fashion forward mood! From the above selection I absolutely adore the floor length cut out dress. For me cut out style are all the rage at the moment, or they are at least for me, I used to dislike dresses that had bits missing from them as I didn’t think they were flattering, I have however seen some sense and realised that they do look pretty darn good! Her centre parting free falling hairstyle adds a softness to the look in comparison to MK’s metallic floaty gown and messy bun. It must be hard to pick out an outfit that won’t clash with your sisters.

Like anyone, we all go through phases with certain styles and trends. I think that one certainly stuck with Ashley Olsen, that being the BLAZER, and even the ‘androgyny’ looks that just keeps creeping onto the catwalks. I thought this style would be really fun to try to recreate with finds from all my favourite stores. I also gave myself a budget, being on a bit of a spending ‘kinda ban/cutting back’ type thing at the moment I thought how about try and get a complete outfit for hmmm £65! I’ll even throw in some sale finds if I have to! Love a good bargain! As Barney from How I Met Your Mother would say CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

top | H&M | was £6.99 now £2

skirt | BOOHOO.COM | was £15.00 now £12.00

belt | MISSGUIDED.CO.UK | £9.99

shoes | NEWLOOK | £24.99

sunglasses | RIVERISLAND | £13.00

TOTAL: £61.98

Needless to say this was quite difficult to get for under £65, I wasn’t able to get a bag or jewellery but if you were to do this for real I’m sure like me we all have a cute clutch bag and some bling to add to these ‘NEW’ elements!

I absolutely love the skirt I found from BOOHOO, I do like some faux leather detailing and the texture to this ruffled skirt is perfect to add volume where the belt will cover it. I wanted to add my own spin to this outfit which is why I chose the metallic belt from MISSGUIDED  I think it will add more of a waist to the outfit, as for me its all about the divide between the top and bottom, the ‘monochrome’ nature to this look.

For me little booties like the ones that Ashley wears tend to make me seem like i’ve cut off my foot, so I opted for some strappy heels from my fave go to place for shoes NEWLOOK.

I really enjoyed searching for my own interpretation of Ashley Olsen’s style. I think it would be fun to try and experiment more with tailored styles within my own future purchases. Ashley proves you can still look feminine while adding just a little ‘office’ glamour to your wardrobe!

Until next time you lovely lot.
