When you are in a long distance relationship its nice to do something a little more fancy when you do get to see each other. So Bill’s in Norwich for our dinner date was perfect. It is one of my favourite places to eat in Norwich, is great for any occasion and is really well priced. Also I haven’t really mentioned my relationship before as to be honest its quite new and I’d like to keep things private for the time being. Not to say you won’t/haven’t seen glimpses of Iain on my Instagram.
Right let’s get right on into it! Lots of photos of delicious food and a really lively atmosphere that is Bill’s. And of course with the most perfect company, my boy!
After browsing through the menu for what seemed like an age, as I couldn’t make up my mind, we finally settled on our dishes. Let me tell you something straight, if you ever go to Bill’s you MUST have the crispy crumb halloumi! It is TO DIE FOR! I am addicted to it, I even tried to be all nice and share some with Iain, but he knows me too well and declined to allow me to indulge in my cheese obsession. To be fair he was enjoying his Duck salad which looked (and tasted) amazing!
I was so temped by the sirloin steak, but went for a very grown up main of ‘posh fish finger sarnie’ that’s not its proper title but it’s basically what it is, cod goujons, rocket and ketchup in a slightly toasted fluffy bloomer. It also comes with skin on fries, yummy!!!!
The goujons are massive, a really good portion size if you ask me. Iain had the Rump Steak, and of course I just had to try a bit and it was cooked to perfection. While we sat there ploughing our way through our mains, our very lovely waiter kept checking on us to see how everything was and to see if we needed any more drinks, the service in Bill’s is top-notch, even though the restaurant was packed downstairs and upstairs too for that matter, he didn’t rush off to another table right away, which was nice to see.
Pudding was a must. Of course, something chocolatey for me, the warm chocolate brownie basically jumped out of the menu and slapped me round the face! It was a no brainer. Gooey chocolate, smooth vanilla ice cream a hot chocolate sauce and a flake. What more could a girl ask for. It was so good. Iain had the lemon meringue pie cheesecake which is served in a really cute glass. I love quirky stuff like that. We both cleared our dishes/glass, which is always a good sign.
Bill’s as a whole is something quite different for Norwich. We have lots of Italian restaurants and burger places, but Bill’s is slightly more trendy, at least that’s what I think. I love the decor, everything is open, the lighting, vents, everything. Very rustic. It’s covered in mirrors, chalk boards, quirky glass petitions and it even has chilli’s hanging from the ceiling.
They also have their own range of products, which are displayed EVERYWHERE. From truffles to bottles of pink lemonade, you can even fill out a ‘Bill’s Bag’ form at your table which has a list of all the products on offer, give it to your waiter and by the time you’ve finished your meal they’ve got it all bagged up ready for you to collect (and pay for of course) at the end of your evening.
We had such an amazing evening, I want to say a huge thank you to Bill’s and The Bloggers Hub for this really great evening out. If you live near a Bill’s Restaurant, I urge you to go. They even do breakfasts and lunches too, which are just as yummy as the evening meals.
I really hope you have liked this new addition of an ‘Out and About’ post, as I do eat out so much, I love to share more with you guys about my fave places, here in Norwich and when I go to there places too. Do let me know in the comments if you’d like more of these restaurant reviews/foodie posts.
